Get a Router From Honest

No modem is required for our gigabit service, but you will need a router. You can rent or purchase one from us or you can provide your own. We offer a few models for different scenarios but can tailor our offering to your needs as well. Below are a few standards

• MicroTik hAP ac² Router - Fast and reliable with an effective price point. $70

• TPLink DECO Router - Extensible and feature rich best for covering more area $110

• TPLink AX1800 Router - Dual Band Wi-Fi 6, the latest in Wireless technology. $90

Bring Your Own Router

Below are the requirements for compatibility for routers:

• Gigabit ethernet WAN and LAN ports

• Wifi rating of AC1200 (or AX) or higher

• Dual-band wifi (supports both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz)

What to avoid:

• Modem/router combination units will not work with our service

• Wifi rating of N or <AC1200 may technically work, but wifi speeds will be extremely limited

• Routers with WAN/LAN ports labeled “fast ethernet” typically means a maximum speed of 100 Mbps; you’ll want to ensure that all ethernet ports are gigabit

• Single-band wifi (2.4 GHz only)

Note: If you have a larger space to cover (>800 sqft), we recommend considering a mesh router system like Netgear Orbi, Google Nest, or Amazon eero.
